This hotel is a hidden gem right in the heart of the bustling market Plaza de Ponchos. The location couldn't be more perfect - just steps away from the vibrant atmosphere and surrounded by great restaurants and markets. The rooms are clean and tidy, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The staff is friendly and although their English is limited, they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The breakfast spread is simple yet satisfying, with a variety of fresh juices, toast, and delicious eggs cooked just the way you like.
No improvements needed, everything was perfect.

During our stay at Hotel El Indio, we were pleasantly surprised by the perfect location right next to the bustling market. It was a real treat to step out of the hotel and immediately immerse ourselves in the vibrant local atmosphere. We also found the hotel to be centrally located, making it easy to visit other attractions like the famous pie shop on the plaza de ponchos. Despite its central location, we appreciated that the windows did not face the street, so there was no noise from the market disturbing our peace. Additionally, the hotel had a charming indigenous decor that added to the unique charm of Otavalo. All the basic amenities were decent, including a hot shower and a good breakfast, and the staff were friendly.
In terms of drawbacks, we did experience a little inconvenience with the window in our room facing a neighboring apartment and a shop with a glass ceiling below. This meant that we didn't have much of a view and the noise from the neighbors' puppy on the terrace could be heard.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, right next to the main market, perfect for exploring the bustling atmosphere of the city. You can easily immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and experience the authentic local cuisine. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located next to a shop with a glass ceiling below, allowing you to enjoy the natural light. The room is clean and comfortable, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant stay, and the included breakfast from the café next door is a great way to start your day.
One downside is that the bathroom window opens onto a central courtyard without a curtain, which may compromise your privacy.
